The Academic Senate is the main legislative body of the university and is responsible for formulating policies related to the admission and retention of students, the curriculum, the granting of degrees, life on campus, and the nomination and review of academic deans (incumbents).The Academic Counseling Center works in partnership with undergraduate students to chart an individual course on the university's degree requirements, services and educational opportunities.
The Leadership for Professional Development Program provides undergraduate students in their final year with a foundation for success in their personal and professional lives as they prepare for graduation and beyond. In addition, there are eleven active Academic Senate standing committees, three special committees and two university committees, all of which have student members. The Queens Young Women's Leadership School is part of a network of small public schools exclusively for girls. It emphasizes academic and college preparedness while also helping girls develop emotionally and socially.
